Why this image works in the professional market whereas the previous one would be only acceptable? Will be explained...Mean while, you can include your pro opinions with your comments.
Shot Hand-Held with Canon 5D Mrk II
3 EVs: 1/50sec., f/ 8.0, ISO 400
Tips and requirements in professional market:
The first image gives the impression of a snap shot (and it is).
Saved from being a snap- shot by: removing the clutter (The dealership promotion/advertisement pan-cart on the top) and the half visible column on the left (any object e.g. a tree or its trunk, a person etc. should be either in or out; such images are declined by the industry and referred to as a ‘cropped image’. So, no half tree or limbs). The door handle behind car was removed for two reasons: 1) Unnecessary/distracting detail. 2) As the pan-cart, it lessens the sense of location of the recognizable place that would require a property release form.
Adding interest: The added clouds through the window enhances the composition with interesting/compelling background that would allure auto magazine publications to contact the photographer. It doesn’t have to be real, but it should look real!
Tighter crop: format or size should be no larger than 800 by 600 pixels in height or width to make it possible for editorial use since the image (Honda) is copyrighted and will shun away any potential buyer. Even (inc.junk-vehicle) if the logo and any other distinctive contents removed, Honda can still sue the publisher for copyright infringements. For example: Use an image in products in which the image is a dominant (as in this image) feature with the potential of the product to be subsequently sold or distributed. Examples include posters, postcards, greeting cards, mugs, shirts, hats, mouse pads, magnets, art prints, paintings, or calendars. Hence, the tighter the crop the less risk and more potential interest/buyers as in these examples www.flickr.com/photos/maven_imagery/5353778753/ and this www.flickr.com/photos/maven_imagery/4962912023/ which has been acquired by Adobe Photoshop and numerous publications.
Finally: this image has richer and true colors that is compatible with the less advanced (max. six color printing) printing technology.
